Our History

GEMS is a local company to northern Alberta, with its head office based out of La Crete.

GEMS staff are registered Advanced Care Paramedics, Primary Care Paramedics and Emergency Medical Responders with the Alberta College of Paramedics.

GEMS is a highly experienced diverse medical company focused on the provision of specialized emergency medical response, employing an advanced scope of practice, and a proven asset to companies performing work in remote or difficult areas. We believe in strong management, skilled personnel, targeted programs, and the best tools to do a great job. We boast a diverse fleet of Basic and Advanced Life Support equipment, experienced medic pool and first-class standards. Our business adheres to OH&S codes and utilizes evidence-based medical guidelines overseen by Medical Direction.

GEMS staff has experience in the provision of medical services worldwide, with over twenty years experience that includes throughout western Canada, remote Canadian Arctic, Australia (including the Outback), United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, India, Honduras and United States. GEMS most recent contract provided multiple units of medical support for the NLGC Gas Pipeline Project in Northern Alberta.​
